While looking through the NP photo galleries is normally a joyful event, we find it impossible to do so now…to look for pictures of Davy for the purpose of memorializing him. We cannot see Davy in the past tense; he is forever present to us, and attempting to do anything else wrenches us with the most visceral of pain. If only this were all nothing more than a bad dream… :(

juneytoons replied to your post: Welcome new followers, thank you all for being… Sorry, I just got back from Hollywood. What livestream was there? Lena (mindmeldmouthfingers) set up a Livestream and we all watched “Too Many Girls” and “Some Like it Lukewarm” together and chatted. PsychoJello and we have decided to make this a regular thing and we’re going to...

harryandthemonkees asked: I've been watching the Monkees since I was about 4. So just under a decade. My theatre director (who I happen to be very close to, and is also a Monkees fan, specifically Davy) broke the news to me between 7th and 8th period. I cried my eyes out during 8th period and haven't stopped crying since. I was fortunate enough to see them live in concert this past year, but the hole left by Davy...

Oh, Micky… For those who didn’t see, Micky was absolutely heartbreaking on CNN just now (we’ll try to get a clip up on here when it becomes available). He looked so very sad. Poor guy. We wish we could give him a hug… D:

lunagracie asked: When I was 14 I started watching the episodes daily, I dreampt about having adventures with them, and they'll always bring me back to the nostalgia of imagination and innocence. After today, it feels like a sudden realization of growing up and moving on. :\

Perhaps one of the most difficult thoughts to bear is the idea of the other three Monkees without their fourth. Without their little brother to lovingly rib and pick on, and also look after and protect. Whatever any of them might have said over the years, and whatever friction may have existed with Davy, they truly did love him, in that affectionate, hair-ruffling, barb-slinging way that three...

ibelieveintheoxfordcomma asked: I read your text post about how you missed the opportunity to meet Davy. I don't think that should be regretted at all. Sure you wish you had some great one liner he said about you, but the calmness of the moment, the peace. They are in the lime light constantly and just need some peace. You gave him that with a simple look. No begging for an autograph, no photos, just a look that said...

In Memory of the Cute One: Davy Jones' Greatest...
psychojello: A great tribute by Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone Davy Jones was the grooviest of the Monkees, which makes him one of the grooviest pop stars who ever existed. He was the best dancer in the Monkees, the Cute One, the one with the coy English accent, the bowl-cut boy-child who shook those cherry-red maracas and always got the girl. He was also the guy who stole David Bowie’s...

psychojello: I’m so glad I went to see the Monkees on tour last year. I (Miss Mini) keep going over this one moment in my mind. It was before the show, when I was out by the tour buses. I’d gone early to say hi to one of the guys in the band, and after he went back in for sound check, I was alone. Nobody else was around, so I sat on a curb, just relaxing. A few moments later, who should...

psychojello: This is so hard. I’m glad everyone is being respectful of Monkee fans and of Davy today. I haven’t seen a single negative post on tumblr, like “oh you guys didn’t care about him until he died”, or “it’s not a big deal” or shit like that.

ingravinoveritas: When I was 14 years old, I fell in love with Davy Jones. Turning on an episode of the Monkees’ TV show, his clear English accent was the only sound I heard for miles. It enchanted me, made me feel like a princess in a fairy tale that existed only in my mind. I envied every girl who caught his eye, every long walk on the beach, and I proudly taped his picture to the inside of...
